Since I decided to return to college to do a masters I have been trying to save Money wherever I can. I have also been trying to get fitter and healthier so each Sunday I have started to meal prep my food for the next day or two. I work in Ballsbridge which has plenty of places to eat but are quite expensive and I could easily spend up to 10-12 euro a day on food before I add in a morning coffee so meal prep soon became my best friend.
Eating healthy doesn’t have to be boring or expensive. Each Sunday I pop up to the Dublin Meat Company in Stillorgan. They do a fantastic protein pack deal with Turkey Burgers, Mince Meat, Chicken Fillets, Steak and 20 Eggs for 20euro! Fantastic deal and their meat is very high quality which I like! I normally plan my week in advance so I know what I am having, this really helps me to stay on track and focused.
My Weekly Food Shop
- Brown Rice
- Sweet Potatoes
- Glenisk Protein Yoghurt (Natural flavour)
- Chia seeds (These last ages but I do get them monthly)
- Salted Caramel Green tea
- Egg Whites (O’Egg egg whites are available in the Dublin Meat Company)
- Vegetables- Asparagus, broccoli, carrots, green beans and mixed salads.
- Rice cakes
- Fruit- Bananas and Berries.
- Flahavans Oats
Each Sunday I spend about 50euro between my meat and my grocery shop- (This is over calculating) and this will do me for all my meals for the week. I usually will Food Prep for Monday and Tuesday so this requires lots of Tuberware. I recommend nipping in to Dealz and picking up plastic containers which are 1.49 and that way you can replace as often as you want.
For me, Meal prep saves me time, Money and also ensures I stay on track with my diet plan! What are your favourite meals to meal prep? Share in the comments below.
